Would not recommend - Looks great on paper but unfortunately the real thing is not as advertised.
I picked up a GT15-F camper from Prime Wingfield SA in June 2023, with an advertised ball weight of 230kg and advertised payload of 720kg. Since picking up our camper, we have noticed several changes of the advertised towball weights and payloads on the website! Upon receiving the camper and taking it for our first overnight to test, I stopped past a weighbridge to confirm that we were within the legal weight. To our surprise the ball weight was measured at 340kg, significantly more than expected. The next business day I advised Prime SA of the issue and three weeks later Prime SA arranged, to pick up the camper and take it back to their store to investigate the issue. Prime SA advised that there had been a manufacturing error made in China relating to the position of the axle on the camper chassis, and that 3 campers of “old stock” were experiencing the same issue - I did not realise I had purchased "old stock", with a GT15-C camper in Queensland reporting a towball weight of 400kg! Prime SA advised that they had spoken with Prime QLD and they had a solution to reduce the ball weights by increasing weight to the rear of the camper, however they were still no where near the advertised values, and the advertised payload would have had to be compromised also.
A further four weeks later, Prime SA confirmed that they could reduce the ball weight while maintaining “roughly the exact same” payload as advertised, and I requested that they would need to confirm this this with a weighbridge ticket. Two days later Prime SA called back to confirm that the measured towball weight of unloaded camper was 295kg! 35kg more than what on the compliance plate which was installed when the camper was weighed on the day I picked it up.
After a week of back and forth, Prime SA advised that after modifications the calculated towball mass would be 260kg and the payload 540kg (which needs to include 200kg from the onboard watertank!). After repeatedly requesting the axle weight from their weighbridge ticket, I was finally provided with it the night before they were due to return the camper to find out that they were withholding telling me of a further reduction in payload by 100kg, and the actual total payload (including 200kg of water) was only 440kg (200L fresh water + empty fridge+ 2x9kg gas bottles+ 2x20L jerry cans = approximately 320kg, leaving us with 120kg, for all food, bedding, tools, leads, clothing and personal belongings), now 280kg less than advertised. For a family of 5 this is not sufficient and had I known about the actual towball weight and payload I would have not considered purchasing this camper.
The manager from Prime SA refused our request to consider any form of compensation, even though it was an error from their supplier and an inadequate attempt at trying to fix a defective camper, so we requested a refund. I was then referred to the General Manager from Prime QLD, as apparently Prime SA cannot approve refunds. As i am writing this It has now been 2 weeks with no formal reply, we tried to contact the General Manager through their facebook page to get a response, but commenting on the post has now been blocked!
The General Manager insists that he was not aware of our issue and needed to review our request, however if 3 separate campers - 2 of which are from Prime QLD, have had the same issue and Prime SA was in contact with Prime QLD to find out how they tried to fix the issue, I fail to see how he would be unaware!
In one of the last comments, the General Manager is insisting that the camper is now “fixed”, however the towball weight is still 30kg higher and the payload capacity is 280kg lower than advertised and its still unable to be used for a family of 5. If I bought 2L carton of milk from Coles and found that it contained 1.5L of milk, I am sure that when I return it to Coles they would not then take out more milk and try and tell me it was “fixed” and to just accept it.
